In a nutshell, Open Road presents carefully crafted, acoustic, Americana folk music by Lucia Comnes & John Palmer, a singer-songwriter duo composed of fiddle, viola, fingerstyle guitar, and harmony vocals, on original songs and unexpected covers.
Open Road is Lucia Comnes & John Palmer, and together they present carefully-crafted original songs and acoustic covers of writers such as Rodney Crowell, Larry Campbell, Emmylou Harris, and Townes Van Zandt, with close harmonies and deft instrumental arrangements on guitar, fiddle, and viola. They met in Nashville under the mentorship of Rodney Crowell and share a passion for songwriting and live music. Both are music industry veterans and draw on experiences in previous bands ranging from Americana, Folk, Rock, Irish and World music. In 2022 the duo toured California, Nashville, Italy and Ireland, playing more than 35 concerts. Their debut album ‘Skylark’ was released in January 2023.
Lucia Comnes is an award-winning songwriter and internationally renowned singer and fiddler. She has collaborated and toured with many notable artists including KITKA, Joan Baez and Paul Brady. John Palmer is an avid songwriter, singer, and fingerstyle guitarist with a literary background and an encyclopedic knowledge of the American songbook, from Tin Pan Alley to modern-day Americana. As the musical director of Open Road, he draws on decades of musical experience, including studio work, teaching, and playing with rock and string bands, and soon will be releasing his first solo album.
